Concept of a Dual Energy Storage System for Sustainable Energy Supply of Automated Guided Vehicles

Due to the growing number of automated guided vehicles (AGVs) in use industry, as well increasing demand for limited raw materials, such lithium electric (EV), a more sustainable solution mobile energy storage AGVs is being sought. This paper presents dual system (DESS) concept, based on combination an electrical (supercapacitors) and electro-chemical (battery), used separately depending required transport distance. Each unit (ESU) this DESS capable supplying AGV completely. The concept takes into account requirements complex material flow minimizing capacity operation AGV. An analysis performed further basis derive three possible circuit concepts technical realization. are compared other approaches from related work, differentiating functionality hybrid systems (HESS). was validated by mapping states active components. Finally, approach implementing control strategy state machine given, conclusions investigations drawn.
